Chart Talk: Despite some forecasts of 14% U.S. stock market earnings growth and a price/earnings ratio increase to 20 in 2017—which imply an annual return expectation of above 35%—not everyone is that optimistic. On the contrary, retracing historical average earnings growth and P/E may result in a 5% loss in 2017.
