On June 20, the CFP Board published proposed changes, including an expanded fiduciary duty, to its Standards of Conduct. The author’s comment letter to the CFP Board supports advancing the fiduciary standard of care, but asks for significant clarifications in the proposal before the final changes are made to the code. He calls for publishing another round of the proposal and opening a second comment period.
